AI girlfriend tokens explained: credits, coins and what each action costs

AI girlfriend tokens are an in-app currency (called tokens, credits, coins, Moments or chips depending on the app) that pays for pictures, video, voice and sometimes messages: plans include a monthly allowance and you buy top-up packs when it runs out. 21 of the 31 apps we track use one, and costs vary widely: a picture is 1 credit on Selira AI but 50 Moments on Secrets AI.

By AI Girlfriends Guide editorial team Updated September 29, 2026 How we rank

Why AI girlfriend apps use tokens

Text is cheap to generate. Pictures, video and live voice are not: each one runs a separate, heavier model. A flat subscription that included unlimited video would lose money on heavy users, so apps charge media per use.

Tokens also make prices harder to compare. A picture that costs "50 Moments" or "9 chips" says nothing about dollars until you look up the pack price. That is not always deliberate, but it is the main reason people spend more than they meant to. The names in our data include Moments, Tokens, Credits, Dream Coins, Coins, PeepCoins and Gems.

What pictures and calls cost in each app

These costs come from each app's own pricing, token or help pages, as recorded in our data. Apps not listed do not publish per-action costs.

What a picture and a voice call or message cost, in each app's own currency (September 2026)
App	Currency	Picture	Voice
Secrets AI	Moments	50 (1K or 1.5K); 100 for a 2K advanced image; +10 per extra reference photo; image edit 50	50 per minute of audio call
OurDream	Dreamcoins	10 per 2 images (standard generator); 5 per in-chat or auto image; enhance 10; edit 10 (Spark) or 20 (Eclipse)	50 per minute of voice call
Nomi AI	Credits	1 credit per selfie, art or image edit request, used only after the daily free allowance runs out	Not published
Selira AI	Credits	1 credit per image	Not published
Infatuated AI	Tokens	3 per image in chat (5 for V2 characters); image creation tool 5; upscale 5	Voice 5 tokens (per voice item; per-minute rate not stated)
Dondi.ai	Tokens	Not published	1 token to play one new on-demand voice message

AI Peeps	PeepCoins	10 PeepCoins per image (chat or custom); editing an image 10	Charged per voice message, not per minute: 3 PeepCoins each once the monthly audio allowance (Pal 600, Pro 2,800) is used
DreamBF.ai	Tokens	10 tokens per image generation	7 tokens per minute for voice calls (pricing page)
LusyChat	LusyCoins	30 LusyCoins per image at 1080p, 60 at 2K or 4K	Phone call 25 LusyCoins per minute; a generated voice message 5
Roger	credits	30	Not published
Spicier	chips	9	Not published

Video is the expensive part. OurDream lists 100 dreamcoins per 5 seconds of video, and Spicier lists 90 chips for a video against 9 for a picture. Our ranking of AI girlfriend video apps compares the apps that make clips.

How to work out what a token is really worth

Divide the pack price by the number of tokens, then multiply by what the action costs. Spicier, for example, sells its smallest pack as 550 chips; at 9 chips a picture, that pack buys about 61 pictures. Nomi AI publishes its App Store credit packs, and a selfie costs 1 credit once the daily free allowance runs out:

What each action costs on Nomi AI (in Credits)
Message	0 (chat is not charged in credits; free plan capped at 50 messages a day)
Picture	1 credit per selfie, art or image edit request, used only after the daily free allowance runs out
Video	6 credits for a standard-definition video, 10 for high definition
Notes	25 credits per extra group chat room, 50 per Anchor generation, 100 per extra Nomi slot. Credits never expire and need an active subscription to buy. US App Store credit packs: 40 for $4.99, 100 for $9.99, 225 for $19.99, 600 for $49.99, 1,800 for $99.99.

Always compare packs by price per token. Larger packs are usually cheaper per token, but only if you will use them.

Token rules that cost people money

Allowances that reset. Secrets AI says Moments granted with the plan reset each renewal with no rollover, while purchased top-ups never expire.
Coins that expire. Kupid AI says coins included with a plan expire 6 months after they are credited. GoLove AI's terms say credits left when a subscription ends expire.
Top-ups only for subscribers. Nomi AI, OurDream, Secrets AI and Lovescape all require an active subscription to buy more.
One-click charges. DreamGF says token packs are one-off charges made to your saved card as soon as a pack is clicked.
No refunds. Lovescape says its Chips are non-refundable once bought.

Some rules work in your favor: Secrets AI, Infatuated AI and AI Peeps say failed generations are refunded or not charged. Candy AI's terms say unused tokens expire when a subscription ends, while a newer help article says canceling keeps the balance, so check before you cancel. Our Secrets AI review walks through its Moments in full.

Tokens are not the same as model tokens

The word "tokens" also means something else in AI. Language models read and write text in tokens, small chunks of a few characters, and an app's memory limit is often measured that way (for example an "8K context"). Those tokens are not something you buy. If you are reading about why she forgets older messages, that is the other kind; see why your AI girlfriend forgets.

How to spend less on tokens

Set a monthly budget that includes tokens, not only the plan.
Use the plan allowance before buying top-ups, and buy the smallest pack first.
Write clear picture prompts so you regenerate less.
Skip video unless it is the point; it costs 10 or more pictures' worth in most apps.
Pick an app where chat is not metered. Nomi AI, Selira AI and Secrets AI do not charge messages in their currency.

Our AI girlfriend cost calculator compares plan prices across apps, and our guide to free vs paid plans shows what the allowance adds.

Frequently asked questions

What are tokens in AI girlfriend apps?

Tokens are an in-app currency, also called credits, coins, Moments or chips, used to pay for pictures, video, voice and sometimes messages. Paid plans include a monthly allowance, and you can buy top-up packs.

How much does an AI girlfriend picture cost?

It depends on the app's currency. Selira AI lists 1 credit per image, Spicier 9 chips and Secrets AI 50 Moments. Divide the pack price by the pack size and multiply by the cost per picture to get a dollar figure.

Do AI girlfriend tokens expire?

Sometimes. Secrets AI resets plan Moments each renewal but keeps purchased top-ups, and Kupid AI says plan coins expire 6 months after they are credited. Read the token rules before buying a large pack.

Can I get a refund on AI girlfriend tokens?

Rarely. Lovescape says Chips are non-refundable, and Candy AI only considers token-pack refunds within 24 hours if the tokens are unused. Some apps do refund tokens automatically when a generation fails.

Are messages free or do they cost tokens?

On most paid plans, text chat is not charged in tokens. Exceptions exist: Infatuated AI lists tokens per message, Spicier lists 1 chip per message, and OurDream charges 1 dreamcoin per response on its Genius models.
