Is FantasyGF free? What the $0 trial actually covers

What you get for free

Sign-up works with email, Google, X or Discord, and no card is needed for the free account. The home page offers a "$0 trial" and says "Create your own 5 AI Girlfriends for free, every month", so building characters is the part that is clearly free. You can also browse the characters members have published.

The library is broad: realistic and anime characters, girlfriends and boyfriends, and many styles and personalities, from shy to dominant. Characters you build can have their own persona and scenario, so the free account is a fair way to see how well FantasyGF follows a character brief. One warning: the Google Play app called "FantasyGF - AI Roleplay Chat" is not made by the company behind fantasygf.com, so its free tier tells you nothing about this site. Use the website.

What FantasyGF does not tell you

Three things are missing from the public pages. The first is the free message cap: FantasyGF does not say how many messages the free account or trial allows, or when the trial ends. The second is token prices: our earlier data listed 4 tokens per picture and 4 tokens a minute for live calls, with 100 tokens a month on Premium, but the September 2026 check found token packages and top-ups and no per-action prices. The third is the statement name on your card.

None of that makes FantasyGF unusable, but it means you learn the limits by reaching them. Compare apps that publish exact free limits on our free AI girlfriend ranking.

How to test FantasyGF before paying

Use the free account to build one or two characters and see how they write until you hit the cap. If you want to try calls, pay for one month rather than a year: subscription refunds are only possible before the next billing period starts, never for part of a period.

At checkout, you will be offered extra tokens at a discount "only on your first payment". Skip them on a first month unless you already know you will make lots of calls; you can top up later, just at the normal price. Our FantasyGF pricing page explains the plans.

The cheapest way to pay

The 12-month plan is the cheapest per month at $5.83, charged once a year. The lifetime plan is a single payment worth several years of the yearly plan, so it only makes sense if you are sure you will stay that long. Every option is shown against an inflated "regular" price, so compare the actual charge.

Free alternatives to FantasyGF

• Secrets AI: a published 20 messages a day, with calls at 50 Moments a minute once you pay. See FantasyGF vs Secrets AI.
• Nomi AI: free one-to-one chat with 50 messages a day according to its help pages, and calls on paid plans. See FantasyGF vs Nomi AI.
• Selira AI: uncapped free text chat and 2 companions, from $3.60 a month for pictures, but no live calls.

All three publish their free limits, which FantasyGF does not, and Nomi AI's free plan has no end date. Our FantasyGF review covers what it does well.
