Is OurDream AI free? Why every message costs a coin

What you get without paying

You can create an account with an email address and a login code, browse the character library and look at public characters. That is about it. The help center is direct: non-subscribers pay 1 dreamcoin per chat message, OurDream does not currently give out free dreamcoins, and coins can only be bought with an active subscription. Image and video generation need a subscription too.

So the free account is a way to look around, not a free plan. 30 of the 31 apps we track have a free plan of some kind; OurDream is not one of them.

Free dreamcoins: where they really come from

OurDream names two sources of free coins: referral codes and competitions on its Discord server. Neither is a steady supply, and a referral only pays out when someone signs up through your code. Searches for "free OurDream coins" or an "OurDream promo code" turn up generator sites and codes that the help center does not recognize, so treat them as scams.

G2A, a third-party key marketplace, sells OurDream redeem codes for a 1-year subscription or packs of 1,000 dreamcoins. Those are paid codes, not free ones, and the price is set by the seller rather than by OurDream. Our OurDream AI pricing page covers every way to pay.

What a subscription includes

Once you subscribe, chat on the standard models costs nothing, so messages become unlimited; the smarter Genius models cost 1 coin per reply. You get 1,000 dreamcoins at once and 1,000 more each month, or 2,000 up front on the annual plan. Those coins pay for pictures (5 each in chat), voice calls (50 a minute) and video (100 per 5 seconds). The pricing is covered in more depth in our OurDream review.

How to try OurDream before committing

There is no free trial, so the lowest-risk test is one month on the monthly plan, paid by card. The refund rules explain why. Nothing is refunded once more than 25% of a purchase has been used, monthly plans are not refunded once their coins are spent, and crypto payments are never refunded. The annual plan can get a full or partial refund, but it is charged in full on day one.

In the first month, spend a few coins on each thing you care about: a short call, a handful of pictures and one 5-second clip. That tells you more than any free plan could. Download anything you want to keep, because generated media is blurred if the subscription lapses. If you decide against it, cancel before the first renewal from your profile page.
