Is Selira AI free? Unlimited chat, with three catches
Yes, Selira AI is free for text: the free plan has no message cap, lets you create 2 custom companions and needs no card. The catches are that chat history is kept for only 3 days and the plan has no monthly picture or video credits, which come from a plan starting at $3.60 a month on 12 months ($7.99 month to month) or a one-off credit pack.
What the Selira AI free plan includes
The pricing page lists unlimited 18+ text chat on the free plan, and the contact page FAQ confirms there are no message limits for free users. You can talk to every companion in the library, realistic, semi-realistic or anime, and set each one to Censored or Uncensored. You can also build 2 companions of your own.
Guests can send the first few messages without signing up. After that you need a free account, by email or Google, to keep your conversations. No card is asked for.
The three catches
- Short history. Free chat history is kept for 3 days, so a story you started last week will not be there.
- Credits. The pricing page shows 0 monthly image and video credits on the free plan, while the home page FAQ says free users get 4 starter image credits plus 1 free credit a day. Expect a handful of free pictures at most, plus whatever the Earn Credits tasks give you.
- Age checks. Where the law requires it, 18+ pictures, video and the feed need a selfie age check through Didit, with a government ID as the fallback. Chat is not affected.
None of those limits the chat itself, which is the point of the free plan. The one habit worth forming is to start a fresh scene each time rather than rely on last week's chat, since it will be gone after 3 days. If a character is worth keeping long term, that is the moment to look at a paid plan, because paid plans keep your history and the site says canceling later does not erase it.
How far free chat goes
For day-to-day chat, the free plan is as far as most people need to go. No cap means you can run a long scene in one evening, which Secrets AI, Candy AI, OurDream and Nomi AI do not allow for free. It is the reason Selira AI sits near the top of our free AI girlfriend ranking.
The 3-day history is what breaks long stories. Selira's memory system pulls key details from your chats, such as your name and preferences, but long-term memory is listed only from the Premium tier up. So the free plan suits short, fresh conversations more than a months-long relationship. Our free vs paid guide explains when paying starts to matter.
What paying adds
| Plan | Month to month | Per month, paid yearly | Billed yearly | Includes |

| Selira Lite | $7.99 | $3.60 | $43.20 | 75 image and video credits a month, unlimited chat, unlimited companions, NSFW Live Cam, basic chat memory, unlocks all NSFW content. 3 months: $5.99/month. |

| Selira Premium | $19.99 | $9 | $108 | 500 credits a month, long-term chat memory. 3 months: $15.00/month. |
| Selira Platinum | $39.99 | $17.99 | $215.88 | 1,000 credits a month, long-term memory, unlimited NSFW feed scrolling, priority memory. 3 months: $29.99/month. |
| Selira Diamond | $59 | $26.55 | $318.60 | 2,000 credits a month, long-term chat memory. 3 months: $44.25/month. |
Every paid tier adds monthly credits, unlimited companions and the NSFW Live Cam; Premium and up add long-term memory. Credits cost 1 per image and 10 per 5-second video. You do not have to subscribe to get pictures: one-off credit packs never expire. Our Selira AI pricing page compares the tiers.
