Our verdict

Both offer live calls, pictures and video. OurDream costs $19.99 a month or $9.99 a month on its annual plan, with unlimited messages and 1,000 dreamcoins a month, and it adds group chats, personas and long-term memory. DreamGF's first year works out at $5.83 a month, but its plans renew at a much higher price after the first term.

DreamGF has the only free option: 10 messages a day, growing to 50 on a streak. OurDream charges non-subscribers one coin per message and gives no free coins, and blurs your images and videos if your subscription lapses. DreamGF's memory works within a conversation, where OurDream's is long-term. Refunds: DreamGF gives none on used 3- or 12-month plans, and OurDream refunds nothing once more than 25% of a purchase is used. DreamGF is run by DreamAI SRL in Romania, OurDream by Dream Studio USA, Inc.
