AI girlfriend roleplay prompts: 20 scenarios and a scene template

The best AI girlfriend roleplay prompts set a place, a situation and a goal, then end on a line she can answer, so the story has somewhere to go from her first reply. Below are 20 SFW scenarios in five genres and a fill-in scene template, and they work in any of the 21 apps we track that offer a scenario or roleplay mode.

What makes a roleplay prompt work

A character prompt says who she is. A roleplay prompt says what is happening right now. Our AI girlfriend prompt guide covers character cards; this page is about scenes, and the two work best together.

Four things make a scene take off:

  • A concrete place and time. "A night train through the Alps, 2am" gives the model more to work with than "a train".
  • Something that just happened. A power cut, a missed flight or a stolen map forces a reaction, so she has to do something instead of making small talk.
  • A shared goal. Getting home, solving the case or winning the bet gives every reply a direction.
  • An open ending. Her opening line should hand the next move to you.

Paste the scenario into the app's scenario, greeting or first-message field if it has one. If it only has a chat box, send it as your first message inside brackets, then reply in character once she answers.

A fill-in roleplay scene template

Copy this, fill in the brackets and delete any line you do not need:

Setting: [time and place in one sentence]
Situation: [what just happened that needs a response]
Her role: [name], [age, 18 or older], [her job or role in the story], [one trait that matters in this scene]
My role: [who you are in the scene]
Goal: [what the two of you are trying to do]
Tone: [cozy, funny, tense or slow-burn]
Rules: Write only for [name] and the world. Never speak or act for me. End each reply with a choice, a question or a new problem. Keep replies under [120] words.
Opening line: "[her first words]"

Here it is filled in:

Setting: A mountain cabin in Colorado, a Saturday night in January.
Situation: A storm has knocked out the power and the phones.
Her role: Rosa, 28, a veterinarian who is calm in a crisis and terrible at building fires.
My role: Her partner of one year, who booked the cabin.
Goal: Get warm, get dinner and make it a good night anyway.
Tone: Cozy and funny.
Rules: Write only for Rosa and the world. Never speak or act for me. End each reply with a choice or a question. Keep replies under 120 words.
Opening line: "Okay. We have candles, half a bag of marshmallows and one very judgmental owl outside the window. Fire first, or food first?"

How to keep a roleplay on track

  • Use out-of-character notes. A line in brackets, such as "(OOC: skip to the next morning)", steers the story without breaking the scene.
  • End your own messages with a hook. If you only react, she will only react. Add a sound, a knock at the door or a question.
  • Change one thing when a scene stalls. Bring in weather, a deadline or a new character rather than starting over.
  • Recap after a break. One line such as "Last time we escaped the inn with the map" is enough. Our guide on making your AI girlfriend remember covers memory tools.
  • Regenerate instead of arguing. If a reply goes wrong, swipe or regenerate it. Arguing adds the mistake to the story.
  • Save world facts. Apps with lorebooks or memory notes keep place names and rules straight. Secrets AI calls its version a Lorebook, covered in our Secrets AI review.

7 of the 31 apps we track support group chats, which let you run scenes with more than one character. Our ranking of AI girlfriend roleplay apps compares them on scenarios, memory and group scenes.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good AI girlfriend roleplay prompt?

A good roleplay prompt gives a specific place and time, something that just happened, a goal you share and an opening line that hands the next move to you. Add a rule such as "never speak or act for me" so she only writes her own side.

How do I start a roleplay with my AI girlfriend?

Paste the scenario into the app's scenario or first-message field, or send it in brackets as your first chat message. Then reply in character. Short, concrete first replies set the pace better than long ones.

How do I stop my AI girlfriend from speaking for me in roleplay?

Put "Never speak or act for me" in the scenario rules, then edit or regenerate any reply that breaks it. Models copy patterns, so removing the first slip stops it becoming a habit.

Can an AI girlfriend roleplay with more than one character?

Yes, in apps with group chat or narrator modes. 7 of the 31 apps we track offer group chats, and most others can voice side characters if you ask her to narrate the world as well as herself.

Why does my AI girlfriend forget the story during roleplay?

Models can only read a limited amount of recent text at once, so older details fall out. Recap key facts after breaks and save names and places in the app's memory or lorebook if it has one.
