How an AI girlfriend group chat works

A group chat puts two or more AI characters in the same conversation. You write one message, and the characters reply in turn, react to each other and remember who said what. On most apps you can name the character you want to answer next, or let the app pick.

People use group chats for things a one-to-one chat cannot do:

• Social scenes. A double date, a dinner with her friends, or a night out where you meet someone new.
• Stories with a cast. A mystery, a road trip or a fantasy quest where each character has a role.
• Comparing personalities. Two companions with different styles in one room, so you can see which one you like talking to.

Which plan unlocks group chat on each app

Group chat is almost always a paid feature. This table shows what each app says about the limit and the plan you need.

Secrets AI is the one to read closely. It ranks first overall, but its group chats sit on the top tier, so the real price for this feature is $26.67 a month on yearly billing, not the $9.17 Premium price. Group chat vs one-to-one: what changes

A group scene feels busier and more social, but three things work differently from a private chat:

• Memory is shared out. Each character has to keep track of you and of the others. Apps with long-term memory handle this far better than apps that only remember the current conversation.
• Replies get shorter. With three voices in the room, each character says less per turn, and the conversation can feel like a crowd rather than a date.
• Characters can talk over each other. Without direction, two characters may answer the same question or agree with each other too much.

So group chat suits stories and social scenes, and one-to-one suits a relationship that builds over weeks. Many people use both: a main companion for daily chat, plus a group room for the occasional night out. How to set up a group scene that works

1. Start with two characters, not five. Two companions plus you is easy to follow. Add a third once the first two have found their voices.
2. Give each one a clear role. "Mia is my girlfriend, Jess is her sarcastic best friend who is meeting me for the first time" gives the app a reason for each character to speak.
3. Set the scene in your first message. Say where you are, what time it is and what is happening, the way you would open a story.
4. Direct the conversation. Address a character by name when you want her to answer. Most apps follow the name.
5. Use a persona for yourself. Apps with personas, such as Secrets AI's top tier, OurDream and Selira AI, let every character see the same description of you.
6. End the scene on purpose. Close a group chat when the story ends rather than letting it drift, then carry on one-to-one.

Apps without group chat, and the workarounds

Several well-known apps do not offer group chat at all. Candy AI, FantasyGF, Infatuated AI, My Dream Companion and Lovescape are all one-to-one, according to the feature data we collect from their own sites. That does not make them worse for a private relationship, but it does rule them out for group scenes.

DarLink AI is a partial exception: it lets free users join public group chats, which are shared rooms rather than a private scene you build yourself.

On a one-to-one app you can still get close to a group scene:

• Write a narrator character. A character described as "the narrator of a story with three friends" can voice several people in one reply.
• Use scenarios. Apps with scenarios let you set up a party, a trip or a workplace with other people in the background.
• Switch chats. Tell one companion what another said. It is slower, but each keeps her own memory of you.
