Is PolyBuzz free? What you get without paying
Yes, PolyBuzz is free: you can chat with its 20 million characters for free, with ads, without even creating an account, and you can create characters and generate images on the web. A membership, from $9.90 a month on the US App Store, removes ads and unlocks unlimited voice playback, faster replies and stronger memory models.
What the PolyBuzz free plan includes
According to PolyBuzz's own pages, free users can:
- Chat with characters, with ads between chats
- Start as a guest by entering a date of birth, with no account needed
- Create their own characters and import character cards
- Generate images for free on the web
- Listen to a limited amount of character voice playback
If you do sign up, you can use email, Google or Apple, and no card is needed. Our PolyBuzz review covers the rest of the app.
What you have to pay for
The membership page lists what paying unlocks (PolyBuzz membership):
- Standard: no ads, unlimited voice listening, unlimited chats, faster replies that skip the queue, and the Long Memory model.
- Premium: everything in Standard plus more chat models and extra personalization.
- Top plan: everything in Premium plus the newest models, including Permanent Memory, and Webtoon-style shots.
Coins are separate and pay for extra voice chat time, regenerated replies, suggested replies and memory scenes, whether you have a membership or not.
How far free chat goes
Far enough to find characters you like, not far enough for a long story. PolyBuzz does not publish a free message cap, but Standard lists "unlimited chats" as a benefit, which suggests free chat has limits it does not spell out. You will notice three things:
- Ads run through the free app, and Google Play labels it as containing ads.
- Queues: faster replies and queue skipping are paid perks.
- Memory: the FAQ admits characters forget earlier parts of long chats, and the stronger memory models are paid.
Our guide to free vs paid companion apps explains why memory is the usual dividing line.
The cheapest paid option
Standard is the cheapest membership at $9.90 a month on the US App Store, with a weekly option too. Premium costs $19.90 and the top plan $29.90.

Free alternatives with better memory or media
PolyBuzz is hard to beat on library size for free. If you want a free plan that is clearer about its limits, or one that allows 18+ chat by design, these three apps from our ranking stand out:
- Selira AI (8.2): Unlimited chat, 2 companions, 3 days of history. It adds group chat and personas, which PolyBuzz lacks.
- TryNectar AI (8.2): 15 messages and 10 images a day, and it keeps a long-term memory.
- HeyGF (8.0): 30 messages a day, no photos or videos, with unlimited messages on every paid tier from $8.33 a month.
All three are 18+ apps run by named companies. Our free AI girlfriend ranking compares every free plan we track, and PolyBuzz vs Selira AI compares the unlimited-chat pick directly.
Frequently asked questions
Is PolyBuzz completely free?
Chatting is free with ads, and you can start without an account. Ad-free use, unlimited voice playback, faster replies and the stronger memory models need a paid membership.
Does PolyBuzz have a free trial?
Our data shows no free trial of the memberships. The free plan itself works as the trial, since you can chat without paying or signing up.
Can I use PolyBuzz without signing up?
Yes. Guests enter a date of birth and can start chatting straight away. Creating an account with email, Google or Apple saves your chats and characters.
Is PolyBuzz unlimited for free?
PolyBuzz does not publish a free cap, but it lists unlimited chats as a membership benefit, so free use has limits. Voice playback is limited for free users.
How do I get rid of ads on PolyBuzz?
Any membership removes them. Standard is the cheapest at $9.90 a month on the US App Store.
