Is PolyBuzz safe? Company, privacy and age checks explained

PolyBuzz is safe to use in the basic sense: it is a legitimate app sold by Cloud Whale Interactive Technology LLC, with 17+ store ratings and account deletion. What to watch is tracking, because its privacy policy shares device IDs, IP and location with ad partners, and age checks, which rely on a typed birth date outside the UK.

The App Store seller is Cloud Whale Interactive Technology LLC, with a Wilmington, Delaware address, and the terms are governed by Delaware law. The privacy policy's contact address, though, is Singularity Mutual Entertainment Culture Media Limited in Kwun Tong, Hong Kong (privacy policy). Data protection questions go to legal@mail.polybuzz.ai. The app is rated 17+ on the App Store with about 479,000 ratings and Mature 17+ on Google Play. Our PolyBuzz review covers the product.

Billing and what shows on your statement

PolyBuzz takes payment through Stripe on the web, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and App Store or Google Play billing in the apps. It does not publish its card statement text, and it does not advertise discreet billing. If you pay through Apple or Google, the charge appears as an app store purchase rather than under PolyBuzz's own name.

Memberships renew automatically and completed purchases are not refunded without due reason, so check the renewal date after you subscribe. Prices are on our PolyBuzz pricing page.

Privacy: chats, photos and ad tracking

PolyBuzz's FAQ says your chats are private and not visible to character creators or staff. The privacy policy is broader about everything else:

  • Training: it does not say chats train its models, but it says uploaded photos and precise geolocation may be used to train its AI, and the terms say the model may evolve from user inputs.
  • Sharing: data goes to third parties that deliver features, including "the Chat-GPT platform", payment providers, and ad SDKs such as TopOn, which receive device IDs, IP address and location.
  • Selling: it says it does not sell user information.
  • Retention: data is kept no longer than needed, backups are purged when the backup system updates, and anonymized data can be kept for any purpose.

Our guide on whether companion apps read your chats puts these terms in context.

Deleting your PolyBuzz account

Go to Settings, Account, Delete. Deletion is irreversible. You can also email support@mail.polybuzz.ai; PolyBuzz verifies your identity and replies within 30 days. Cancel any App Store or Google Play membership first, because deleting the account does not stop the store from billing you. Our guide on deleting a companion app account lists what to request.

Age checks and content rules

PolyBuzz's terms say it is for adults only, and everyone, including guests, enters a date of birth on first use. In the UK, users must pass an age check through Ondato or Yoti under the Online Safety Act, and PolyBuzz keeps only the pass or fail result. Elsewhere the birth date is typed, not verified. A Qustodio parent guide from March 2026 found the web version asked for nothing at all when it was reviewed (Qustodio). The app also has a Teen Mode, even though the terms say 18+ only.

On content, public pages are screened by AI and human moderators, and pornography, sexualized minors, self-harm, eating-disorder promotion, hate and illegal content are banned there. Characters that break the rules are marked "Violation" and hidden. Its AI girlfriend page says private one-to-one chats are not filtered (PolyBuzz), and Qustodio notes that moderation of recommended content does not reach inside private chats.

Reported incidents

We found no reported data breach of PolyBuzz in the sources we track. The main public concern is the one Qustodio raised: weak age checks outside the UK, combined with unfiltered private chats, make it a poor fit for teens. There is no status page; outage news goes out on its official Discord. Our data breaches guide tracks the companion apps that have leaked user data.

How to use PolyBuzz safely

  • Limit ad tracking in your phone's privacy settings, since ad SDKs receive device IDs and location.
  • Do not upload real photos of yourself or others, because uploaded photos may be used for training.
  • Keep personal details out of chats: full name, address, workplace and anything you would not want stored.
  • Parents: use device-level parental controls; a typed birth date will not keep a teen out.
  • Pay through Apple or Google if you want to cancel from your phone settings.

Our guide to AI girlfriend app safety applies the same checks to 18+ apps, and Nomi AI vs PolyBuzz compares it with a memory-first adult app.
