Our verdict

Kindroid is a companion you build yourself. The subscription, $11.67 a month yearly or $13.99 monthly on its website, includes flagship models, cascaded long-term memory, voice and video calls, selfies, video selfies, up to 10 Kindroids and 20 group chats. The free tier keeps unlimited messages on a smaller Lite model. It has iPhone and Android apps and takes PayPal.

SpicyChat is a community roleplay site. Chat is free and uncapped, with a 4,096-token context, and Get A Taste at $5 a month yearly or $5.95 monthly removes ads and adds a Memory Manager. Longer context, images and text-to-speech need the upper tiers, and there are no calls or video. Both are 18+ with age checks where the law requires. SpicyChat refunds card payments within 24 hours of light use; Kindroid refunds case by case. See our Kindroid review.
