Why people look for a SpicyChat alternative
SpicyChat is a strong, cheap roleplay site, so people usually leave it for one of these reasons:
- Pictures cost a jump in tier. Conversation images start at True Supporter, $19.95 a month, more than three times the Get A Taste price.
- The September 2026 price rise. Every tier went up by about a fifth to a third for new subscribers.
- No live calls or video, and text-to-speech only on the top tier.
- No iPhone app since Apple removed it in August 2025, and Android uses a direct download.
- Privacy terms that warn operators may read your messages.
- Age checks by video selfie in France, the UK, Italy, Australia and 26 US states.
Our SpicyChat review covers what it does well, and Is SpicyChat safe? explains the privacy terms.

SpicyChat matches most of these apps on group chat and custom characters. Where the alternatives pull ahead is media: all six make video, which SpicyChat does not, and four of the six take live calls. Candy AI is the one pick without group chat. What to look for in a site like SpicyChat
- Roleplay tools. Group chat, personas and scenarios are what make SpicyChat good. Secrets AI, OurDream, Selira AI, Kindroid and TryNectar AI have all three; see our roleplay ranking.
- The real cost of pictures. SpicyChat bundles images into a higher tier; most alternatives include some images and charge tokens for more. Our pictures ranking compares them.
- Memory. If 4K context frustrates you, choose an app whose memory is long-term on its cheapest paid plan.
- Clear privacy terms. Read who can see your chats before you move a long story across.
Free alternatives to SpicyChat
SpicyChat's free plan has no message cap, which only Selira AI matches among the picks. Seven of the eight are free to start:
- Selira AI: Unlimited chat, 2 companions, 3 days of history.
- Secrets AI: 20 messages a day, no images or calls.
- TryNectar AI: 15 messages and 10 images a day.
- CrushOn AI: free messages, then a slower free model.
- Candy AI: 5 messages, 1 custom character, 1 image.
OurDream has no free plan. Our free AI girlfriend ranking compares every free tier.
How we chose these SpicyChat alternatives
We started from the 31 apps in our AI girlfriend ranking and kept those that allow 18+ chat and let you build your own characters, favoring apps with the roleplay tools SpicyChat users rely on and the media it lacks. We then ordered them by overall score, which weighs conversation, memory, pictures and video, value, voice and trust. CrushOn AI ranks lower but is the closest in style, so it is included.
GirlfriendGPT is run by the same company as SpicyChat, so switching to it does not change the operator. General chat apps such as Character.AI and Janitor AI are not ranked; compare them in Character AI vs SpicyChat and Janitor AI vs SpicyChat. SpicyChat scores 7.6. Our methodology explains every weight.
