Is HeyGF free? What you can do without paying
Yes, HeyGF is free for basic chat with no card: its site code caps free chat at 30 messages a day when you are signed in and 5 a day as a guest, and new accounts get 3 welcome gift coins. Photos, videos and 18+ chat need a paid plan, from $8.33 a month on the annual Casual plan or $9.99 month to month.
What the HeyGF free plan includes
HeyGF lets you start without an account. As a guest, the site's code allows 5 messages a day. Sign up with an email address or Google and the cap rises to 30 messages a day. The pricing page describes the free tier as basic chat with no credit card, and new accounts get 3 welcome gift coins.
HeyGF runs in the browser with nothing to install, so the free plan works the same on a phone or a computer.
What needs a paid plan
Everything beyond basic chat is paid:
- Photos, videos and audio messages, including 18+ content
- 18+ chat itself
- Custom private content
- Monthly coins: 150, 350 or 800 depending on the tier
- Each character's full photo gallery, on annual plans only
Every paid tier includes unlimited messages, so the 30-a-day cap disappears on the cheapest plan. Photos and videos then cost coins: 3 per character photo and 25 per video, according to the site's pricing code. Our HeyGF pricing page shows what each tier's coins buy.
How far 30 free messages a day go
Thirty messages a day is roughly 900 a month, one of the more usable free allowances we track. It is enough for a proper conversation every day and to see whether a character remembers you, since the privacy policy says your conversation history is used to personalise replies.
What you cannot judge for free is the main thing HeyGF sells: photos. The 3 welcome coins equal one character photo at the coin price in its code, but the pages do not say whether a free account can spend them. Plan on paying for a month if photos are the reason you are here. Our HeyGF review covers how the photo side works.

The pricing page shows a "Save 44%" badge on Casual, but that is measured against a struck reference price; against the monthly plan, the annual saving is 17%.
There are no refunds for part-used periods, so a single month is the safer first step. See how to cancel HeyGF before you buy, and is HeyGF safe? for the company and privacy side.
