Is Joi AI safe and legit? What to know before you sign up

Who runs Joi

Joi's terms name NOVI LIMITED, Aglantzias 62, Nicosia, Cyprus. Novi Limited also publishes EVA AI Soulmate on the US App Store. Separate US terms and a US privacy page exist. Here are the facts from its terms and privacy policy, checked on 29 September 2026:

Support is unusually reachable for this market: email at support@joi.com, a help center at help.joi.com, and a US phone line, +1 888 685 9040, from 11 AM to 9 PM Pacific time. Disputes go to arbitration, LCIA in London for non-US users and AAA in New York for US users, with a class-action waiver.

Billing and what shows on your statement

Checkout says "No adult transaction in your bank statement". What does appear is less clear: the terms say the descriptor is "joi.com", while the subscription checkout text names Novi Limited. Expect one or the other.

Joi takes Visa and Mastercard (gift and prepaid cards too), Google Pay, Apple Pay and crypto where available. Its help center notes that banks sometimes flag adult-platform charges and suggests a prepaid card if that happens. Privacy: training, recordings and the chargeback rule

The privacy policy says the text and voice messages you send are collected to improve message quality and develop Joi's AI. Joi says it does not rent or sell data, and shares chats only with affiliates, legal representatives and service providers such as hosting and image recognition.

Three details deserve attention:

• Session recordings. If you consent at registration, recordings of your sessions go to Microsoft.
• Ad tracking. Google Analytics and Google DoubleClick are used for analytics and advertising.
• Chargebacks. If you charge back a payment, Joi says it may disclose your private communications to prove the charge was valid.

Deleting your Joi account

You can delete your account inside the service; the terms call it irreversible. You can also email support@joi.com to ask for your personal data to be deleted. Deleting forfeits Premium, any Bot Subscriptions and your Neurons, so cancel and spend first.

The policy keeps data as long as needed to run the service, and warns that some content may persist in cached pages, and that data shared with third parties such as Microsoft follows their policies. Our account deletion guide lists what to check.

Age checks, the UK block and content rules

Joi's age checks are stronger than most. VerifyMyAge may ask at registration, for Premium or explicit content, or where the law requires, using a background email check, facial age estimation or a government ID with a possible selfie match. Joi says it does not store ID documents, and an automated system can block accounts it suspects belong to under-18s until proof of age is given. Adult content is allowed for adults. Joi bans content involving minors or anyone who appears under 18, exploitation, incest, self-harm and extremism, and in chat also political and religious topics. Reported problems and lookalike apps

None of the Joi sources we checked for this page report a data breach. Joi says it runs full red-team testing with an independent AI safety partner twice a year. Our data breach page tracks incidents reported across the market.

There is no Joi app on the App Store or Google Play; the site ships its own installable web app. EVA AI Soulmate is from the same company but is a separate product with its own billing.

How to use Joi safely

• Decline session recording consent at registration if you do not want it.
• Keep your name, address and photos of real people out of chats.
• Settle billing issues with support@joi.com before any chargeback.
• Cancel the 7-day trial at least 24 hours before day 8 if you do not want Premium.
• Use a prepaid card if you would rather not use your main card.
