Install an AI girlfriend as a Windows or Mac app
A browser-installed app gets its own window, a taskbar or Dock icon and its own notifications, with no browser tabs around it.
Chrome on Windows or Mac
Open the site and sign in. Click the three-dot menu, then Cast, save, and share, then Install page as app. On some sites an Install icon appears at the right of the address bar instead (Chrome Help).
Microsoft Edge on Windows 11
Edge offers to install sites that ship a web app. For any other site, open Settings and more, then More tools, Apps, and Install this site as an app. From edge://apps you can then pin it to the taskbar or Start, or set it to open when you log in (Microsoft Support).
Safari on a Mac
On macOS Sonoma 14 or later, choose File, then Add to Dock. The web app is saved in the Applications folder of your home folder and can show a badge for unread notifications (Apple Support).
You can rename the app when you add it, which helps on a shared computer.
What a computer does better than a phone
The chat is the same on any device, but some parts of these apps are simply easier with a keyboard and a large screen:

"AI girlfriend for PC download": games, local models and fake installers
Searches for an AI girlfriend PC download usually lead to one of three things, and only two are safe.
- Games on Steam or itch.io. These are games with an AI character, not companion apps, and they come from real stores. Our page on the best AI girlfriend games covers them.
- Local AI models. Open-source tools can run a companion entirely on your own computer, if it has a strong graphics card. See open-source AI girlfriends.
- Installers that use a big app's name. None of the eight apps above offers a Windows or Mac installer on its site, so an .exe or .dmg claiming to be Candy AI or Secrets AI is not from them. Do not run it.
Keeping it private on a shared computer
A PC is often shared, and browsers remember a lot. A separate browser profile keeps the site, its logins and its history out of the main profile everyone else uses. A private window works for a quick session but signs you out when you close it. Turn off notification previews for the web app in Windows or macOS notification settings, and sign out on any computer that is not yours.
