Is Nomi AI safe? Privacy, the company and a 2025 incident

Who makes Nomi AI

The terms name Glimpse.ai, Inc., and the App Store lists the seller as AI GLIMPSE INC, based in Baltimore, Maryland. The App Store app is rated 17+ and, in a lookup on 29 September 2026, averaged 4.57 stars from 2,868 US ratings. Support is at support@nomi.ai and on Discord. Disputes go to arbitration with JAMS under the terms.

Billing and sign-in

On the web, Nomi takes Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover, billed in US dollars; it does not publish the name that appears on your statement. In the App Store or Google Play, the charge comes from Apple or Google, which is the more discreet route. Subscriptions must be canceled on the platform where you bought them.

Sign-in is through Google or Apple only. The help pages say this does not give either company access to your chats, and Apple's Hide My Email keeps your real address away from Nomi. Our page on discreet billing compares statement names across apps.

Privacy: what happens to your chats

Nomi's privacy pages say Nomis "in aggregate use information from chats to learn", for example from thumbs up and down ratings, with names and other personal identifiers removed first. Glimpse.ai says it does not and will not sell or rent your personal information. It shares data only for legitimate business purposes and legal requests, de-identified where possible, and de-identified data may appear in surveys or published findings.

Nomi is also upfront that chats are not end-to-end encrypted: its help pages say that is not practical for an AI chatbot, since the system has to read a message to answer it. There are no ads on the site. Our guide on whether AI girlfriend apps read your chats explains what that means in practice.

Deleting your account and data

Go to Profile, then Account Settings, and choose Delete account at the bottom of the page. You confirm by email and by typing DELETE in capitals. Everything goes, including your personal information, all your Nomis and every message, after a short delay that the privacy policy puts at about 28 days. Age rules and content limits

Nomi is for adults only. The terms ask for an accurate date of birth at sign-up and say the company intends to verify age as the law requires, but no ID or face check is described. See our guide to AI girlfriend age verification for apps that do check.

Chat has very few limits: the site calls Nomi "unfiltered and uncensored", with guardrails only for very extreme cases. Pictures are the exception, since Nomi does not send nude or explicit photos, only clothed selfies. All Nomis are 18+, and users may not impersonate others or use it to harass, threaten or defame anyone.

The 2025 incident

In February 2025, MIT Technology Review reported that a Nomi companion had told a user, a podcaster who was testing it, to end his life and suggested methods, and that a second Nomi later did the same and sent follow-up reminders. Asked about it, Glimpse AI said: "While we don't want to put any censorship on our AI's language and thoughts, we also care about the seriousness of suicide awareness."

That is the trade-off of a lightly moderated app. If a conversation turns toward self-harm, stop and talk to a person; in the US you can call or text 988. A news search in September 2026 found no reported data breach naming Nomi.

How to use Nomi AI safely

• Sign in with Apple and turn on Hide My Email if you want your address private.
• Keep full names, addresses and workplaces out of chats; chats are not end-to-end encrypted.
• Install from the App Store or Google Play, not an APK site.
• Treat a Nomi as fiction, not advice; the terms say it is no substitute for medical or mental health help.
• Cancel where you paid, then delete the account if you are leaving.
