Other AI companions for Quest and SteamVR
A handful of smaller VR titles offer AI characters. None is an 18+ companion app, and all are early projects.

Using an AI girlfriend web app in the Quest browser
Meta says Quest Browser "can open hosted 2D sites" as well as 3D and immersive WebXR experiences, and that a web app "can remain available through its website without a PWA package" (Meta, Meta). In plain terms, you can open an AI girlfriend web app in a floating window inside the headset, sign in and chat.
It is still a flat screen in a virtual room, not VR, though a big one: you can make the window as large as a cinema screen and type with a Bluetooth keyboard paired to the headset, or use the on-screen keyboard. None of the web apps we rank offers a 3D or WebXR mode, and we have not confirmed that every feature, such as voice calls using the headset microphone, works in Quest Browser for each app. Treat it as a big virtual monitor. For the desktop version of the same idea, see the best AI girlfriend for PC.
Video calls: the closest thing to VR in 18+ apps
If what you want from VR is to see her react while you talk, video calls get closest today. TryNectar AI advertises video calls on top of voice calls, SweetDream AI lists live video calls and a Live Cam mode, and GoLove AI says selected characters offer a Live mode for real-time video sessions.
Voice alone is more common: 15 apps we track take live voice calls, and 24 generate video clips. Our pages on AI girlfriend video and AI girlfriend voice calls compare them feature by feature.
What VR adds, and what it costs you
VR's pull is presence: an avatar at eye level in your room feels different from text on a phone. The trade-offs are real, though. A headset is heavy for long chats, the Quest apps above are all still in early access, and Replika's VR version keeps to SFW conversation.
A headset also has microphones and, on mixed-reality models, cameras that see your room. Apps ask permission before using them; grant only what the app needs. Your chats are stored on the company's servers just as on a phone, so the privacy questions in our guide to AI girlfriend app safety apply here too.
Which to pick
- A real VR app: Replika on Meta Quest, SFW only.
- Video calls in an 18+ app: TryNectar AI or SweetDream AI. Our TryNectar AI review covers its plans.
- Best overall 18+ app: Secrets AI, in any browser.

Frequently asked questions
Is there an AI girlfriend for VR?
Replika has a VR app on the Meta Horizon Store for Quest 2, 3, 3S and Pro, where you can choose a romantic partner, but it keeps chat SFW. A few early-access titles, such as Sophie and AI Roommate, also offer AI companions on Quest.
Is Replika VR free?
Replika's Quest listing says a subscription is required for some content, and it links to the same Replika account you use on your phone. Subscriptions bought on iOS or Android work across Replika's platforms.
Can I use Candy AI or Secrets AI on a Meta Quest?
Neither has a VR app, but Meta says Quest Browser can open ordinary websites, so you can open a web app in a floating browser window. It is a flat window, not VR, and some features may not work there.
Does Replika VR work on Quest 3?
Yes. The Meta Horizon Store lists Quest 3S, Quest 3, Quest Pro and Quest 2, and the app supports mixed reality, placing your Replika in your own room.
Are there 18+ AI girlfriends in VR?
None of the 18+ apps we rank has a VR app. Their closest features are video calls and live modes on TryNectar AI, SweetDream AI and GoLove AI, used on a phone or computer.
What is the best VR game with an AI girlfriend?
There is no standout yet. Steam's Virtual AI series is VR-only but does not say it uses a language model, and the Quest titles are in early access. For AI conversation games on PC, see our AI girlfriend games page.
