Is Roger free?

Yes, you can join and chat for free. Sign-up takes an email address, a Google account or Discord, and the free plan works like this:

The daily limits apply until you confirm your email, and Roger does not publish the exact numbers. The trial in its site config covers 4 safe-for-work pictures, 2 18+ pictures and 5 voice messages, once. Credits: pictures, voice, video and calls

Text chat on Premium is not metered. Everything else runs on credits:

At those rates, Premium's 1,000 monthly credits cover about 33 pictures, or 100 voice messages, or 10 Shorts episodes, if you spend them on one thing. The upgrade page lists video generation too, priced at 100 credits in the site config. Live audio calls are included in Premium, but Roger does not say how many credits a minute costs, so check the price inside the app before a long call.

Characters, chat and memory

The catalogue is men only: Roger originals, companions shared by the community, and ones you build. Making your own companion costs 100 credits and is part of Premium. Shorts add episodic stories starring the companions, and the site keeps safe-for-work and 18+ content in separate feeds.

Language is a limit. The interface is available in English and Spanish, but companions reply in English, with Spanish replies listed as coming soon. Memory is the other one. Premium advertises "better memory", yet our data records Roger's memory as conversational, meaning a companion follows the current chat but does not keep a long record you can see or edit. Is Roger safe and legit?

Roger is run by Life AI Technologies, LLC, which lists an address on Market Street in San Francisco. The terms send disputes to AAA arbitration with a class-action waiver, and the privacy policy names Prighter as its UK, EU and Swiss representative. Card charges show as Life AI Technologies LLC, and the upgrade page promises no adult transaction on your statement. It takes Visa and Mastercard only.

Privacy has one thing to watch. The policy names ad and analytics pixels from Google, Meta, Snapchat, TikTok, Pinterest, Triple Whale and Grindr, and sends sign-ups and purchases to Meta with a hashed email when you accept cookies. It also says sensitive data such as your orientation and your conversations is not sold or shared for advertising. Staff may review flagged chats. How to cancel Roger

1. Go to your Account page
2. Open the Payment & Billing section
3. Click Manage Subscription, then Cancel Subscription
4. Premium stays active to the end of the billing period, then the account reverts to the free plan; credits are kept

Who Roger suits, and who should skip it

Pick Roger if you want an app made for gay men rather than a girlfriend app with a Guys tab, if live calls matter, and if you like credits that never expire. The annual plan works out to $7.50 a month, against a $7.75 median cheapest plan across the 31 apps we rank.
