Nomi AI and Replika are the only apps here with official apps in both stores. Anima is on Google Play; the site still links to an App Store app, but Apple's lookup returned no listing when we checked in September 2026. Everything else runs in the browser, where you get the same features as on a computer.

Why most AI boyfriend apps are web apps
Apple and Google both limit sexual content in their stores, and they take a cut of in-app subscriptions. Apps built around 18+ chat and pictures would have to strip those features out to get in, so most skip the stores and run on the web instead.
The store apps that exist are the tamer ones. Replika keeps chat SFW. Nomi AI is rated 17+ on the App Store and allows adult chat, but no nude or NSFW photos. Anima is a friendly companion app. If you want 18+ chat and pictures with him, you will be using a web app.
That is less of a downgrade than it sounds. A web app installed to your home screen opens full screen without the browser bar, keeps you signed in, and on Kupid AI can send push notifications. How to install a web app on your phone
On iPhone (Safari):
- Open the app's website in Safari and sign in.
- Tap the Share button.
- Tap Add to Home Screen, then Add.
On Android (Chrome):
- Open the website in Chrome and sign in.
- Tap the three-dot menu.
- Tap Install app or Add to Home screen.
Some apps prompt you themselves: Secrets AI offers an install prompt, and SweetDream AI and Joi ship web app manifests so the icon opens full screen. On Kupid AI, allow notifications after installing if you want Auto Messages to reach you.
The icon shows the app's name on your home screen. If that matters on a shared phone, put it in a folder, and set notifications to hide previews.
Fake AI boyfriend apps in the stores
Because the real apps are not in the stores, copycats fill the gap using their names. Our research found these listings are not from the companies behind the apps:
- "DreamBF - AI Boyfriend Chat" on the App Store is sold by AvaCasa, LLC, not DreamAI SRL, which runs DreamBF.
- "Sweet Dream AI Companion" on the App Store comes from a different seller with a different legal site.
- "Lovescapes" on iOS is from an unrelated developer.
- "FantasyGF - AI Roleplay Chat" on Google Play is published by an unrelated developer and contains ads.
- Store apps named Dondi, DarLink and My Lovely are from other companies too.
To be safe, start from the app's official website and follow its own install steps or store link. A copycat may charge you, collect your chats and give you nothing the real app offers. Our guide to AI girlfriend scams covers the warning signs.
What changes between a store app and a web app
- Price. Store prices can be higher than web prices; Nomi's wiki says web billing can work out slightly cheaper.
- Cancelling. A store subscription is cancelled in the store's settings, not in the app. Nomi AI and Replika both say to cancel where you bought.
- Refunds. Store purchases are refunded through Apple or Google, under their rules.
- Content. Store apps keep within store rules; web apps allow whatever the company's own rules allow.
- Billing name. Store purchases show as the store on your statement, while web apps use their own descriptor.
