Which AI girlfriend apps work in Canada
All of the apps we rank are web apps or store apps that open normally from Canada, and none of the research files behind our reviews shows a Canada-specific block or age-check rule. Nomi AI and Replika are listed in the Canadian App Store, both rated 18+, and the 18+ web apps run in any browser.
What differs from the US is money and language. Web apps bill in US dollars, the App Store bills in Canadian dollars, and French support ranges from a full translated site to "she answers in French if you write in French." The sections below cover both. If you are trying several apps first, start with the best free AI girlfriend apps.

On the web, the same Nomi plan is $15.99 a month in US dollars, and Nomi's wiki says web billing can work out cheaper depending on exchange rates. For the 18+ web apps, the dollar prices on our cards are US dollars: Candy AI at $3.99 a month on a yearly plan comes to more once converted, plus any fee your card charges for foreign-currency purchases.
Tax can add to that. The Canada Revenue Agency requires foreign sellers of digital services above its registration threshold to charge GST/HST to Canadian consumers (Canada Revenue Agency), so 5% GST, or 13% to 15% HST depending on your province, may be added at checkout.

Paying from Canada
In the App Store, Apple accepts Apple Pay, most credit and debit cards, PayPal and Apple Account balance in Canada (Apple Support). On the web:
- PayPal: GoLove AI and Kupid AI, and Replika on its website.
- Apple Pay and Google Pay: Candy AI, Secrets AI, Selira AI, Joi AI, GoLove AI and LusyChat.
- Crypto: Secrets AI, Candy AI, OurDream, Lovescape, Swipey AI, Kupid AI and others.
Some Canadian banks flag adult-platform charges. Joi AI notes that banks sometimes decline them and that a Visa or Mastercard gift or prepaid card works instead. Several apps bill under neutral names; see AI girlfriend apps with discreet billing, and apps that take PayPal.

A translated site does not guarantee French replies, but most models follow the language you write in. Put "reply in Canadian French" in her description on apps that let you edit it, and correct her once if she drifts into English. Our AI girlfriend prompts guide has more character lines.
Canadian law and age checks
As of September 29, 2026, no federal law in force in Canada requires age verification for online adult content. Two bills would change that:
- Bill S-209, the Protecting Young Persons from Exposure to Pornography Act, has passed the Senate and is at second reading in the House of Commons, most recently debated on September 24, 2026 (Parliament of Canada). It has not received royal assent.
- Bill C-34, the Safe Social Media Act, was introduced on June 10, 2026 to create a Digital Safety Act for social media and certain AI chatbot services (Government of Canada). It has had only a first reading (Parliament of Canada).
An earlier Online Harms Act, Bill C-63, stopped at second reading and never became law. For now, the apps ask Canadians to confirm they are 18 and apply their own checks, and none of the apps we rank publishes a Canada-specific ID check. If either bill passes, expect the kind of selfie or ID checks UK users already see. Our guide to AI girlfriend laws by country tracks the changes.

Frequently asked questions
Are AI girlfriend apps legal in Canada?
Yes, for adults. No federal law in force requires ID checks for online adult content in Canada; Bill S-209, which would, is still at second reading in the House of Commons. Apps ask you to confirm you are 18 or older.
Which AI girlfriend apps speak French?
Candy AI officially supports French, and Secrets AI, Lovescape, Kupid AI, GoLove AI and Swipey AI have French versions. Swipey AI says your companion replies in whatever language you write in.
How much does an AI girlfriend cost in Canadian dollars?
Nomi AI costs CA$19.99 a month or CA$129.99 a year in the Canadian App Store, and Replika's in-app prices start at CA$10.49. Web apps bill in US dollars, so Candy AI's $3.99 a month yearly plan is converted by your bank.
Can I pay for an AI girlfriend with PayPal in Canada?
Yes. GoLove AI and Kupid AI take PayPal on their sites, Replika accepts it on the web, and Apple accepts PayPal for App Store purchases in Canada.
Do I pay sales tax on an AI girlfriend subscription in Canada?
Often, yes. The Canada Revenue Agency requires foreign sellers of digital services above its registration threshold to charge GST/HST to Canadian consumers, so 5% GST or 13% to 15% HST, depending on your province, may be added at checkout.
Do I need to verify my age to use an AI girlfriend app in Canada?
Every app asks you to confirm you are 18 or older, and some may ask for more where the law requires it. None of the apps we rank publishes a Canada-specific ID check as of September 2026.
