Official Telegram channels vs AI girlfriend bots
Telegram has three kinds of account, and they matter here. A channel broadcasts posts to subscribers. A group is a shared chat. A bot is a program: Telegram describes bots as "small applications that run entirely within the Telegram app," and says its platform hosts more than 10 million of them (Telegram). An AI girlfriend on Telegram is always a bot.
We checked the Telegram links on the homepages of all the apps we rank on September 29, 2026. Here is what the real ones are:

None of these is a girlfriend you chat with inside Telegram. The channels carry news, offers and support, and the chatting happens on each app's own site.
What an unofficial girlfriend bot can see
Everything you send a bot goes to whoever runs it. Telegram's bot FAQ says bots receive "all messages from private chats with users" (Telegram bot FAQ), and Telegram's terms for bot developers say Telegram "has no affiliation with or connection to any TPA or TPA developers, unless otherwise stated" (Telegram). In plain terms: the bot owner reads your chats, and Telegram does not vouch for them.
A bot also sees your Telegram name and username, and anything you share, including photos and voice notes. Most "free AI girlfriend" bots have no privacy policy, no named company and no way to delete your data. Compare that with the apps above, which name their operators: Kupid AI is run by SNB Technologies LTD in Cyprus and Selira AI by Sria Digital B.V. in the Netherlands.
Scams and worse: the risk with free Telegram girlfriend bots
Telegram's openness makes it easy to launch a bot and just as easy to abuse one. In 2024, Wired found 50 "nudify" bots on Telegram listing more than 4 million monthly users combined, and Telegram deleted 75 bots and channels after Wired reported them (Wired). Kaspersky warned in 2025 that scam bots are common in online dating because scammers "can run many conversations at once" (Kaspersky).
Patterns to walk away from:
- A few free messages, then a link to pay on a site you have never heard of.
- An "age check" or "verification fee" that asks for your card number in chat.
- Requests for your phone number, your photos or your social media accounts.

Paying with Telegram Stars
Telegram requires bots to sell digital goods in its own currency: "all sales of digital goods and services are carried out exclusively in Telegram Stars," which users buy through Apple or Google in-app purchases or Telegram's @PremiumBot (Telegram).
AI Peeps is the one app we rank that uses this. Its Telegram bot sells access for Stars, and those purchases add a fixed period that never renews on its own, so there is nothing to cancel. The catch is cost: AI Peeps notes that Telegram adds its own fees on top, which a card payment on its site, handled by CCBill, avoids. G2A codes and crypto are the other one-time options.
If an unofficial bot asks for Stars, remember that Stars are spent inside Telegram with no company behind the bot to refund you.
How to check a Telegram link is really official
- Start from the app's website. Only trust a Telegram link that the official site itself shows, usually in its footer or help menu.
- Compare the username exactly. Copycat channels swap one letter or add "official" to a name.
- Watch who messages first. Official channels and groups do not open private chats with you to sell a plan.
- Never pay inside a chat. The real apps take payment on their own checkout pages, not through links sent in DMs.
